イスラエルの「刑務所で10カ月間に行なわれた仮釈放審査委員会の審問、計1112回分の結果を基に」した研究:Danziger S, et al. 2011について。

これによると、 朝、仕事を始めた時は判事はおよそ65%くらい仮釈放を行うのに、疲れている軽食休憩の直前になると仮釈放を認める確率が１割以下くらいになる。休憩から戻ってくるとまた65%くらいに戻ってそれから数時間でまた１割くらいに下がるらしい。

まず、人間の判断がこんなに疲労によって左右されるというのが驚いた。 計算能力とかその手の能力への疲労の影響というのは昔からよく研究されているし、６倍以上も変動したりなんかしないはず。 だからおそらく(記事が言うように)「倫理的・道徳的」判断だから変動するのだろう。あるいは不確実性が高い問題だからだという解釈も可能だろう。つまりその種の問題を扱う能力は計算能力などとは全く違うのだということ。これが第二の驚き。 （この記事で紹介されている理論によれば疲労すると現状を変えない選択をしがちだという事らしい。）

第三の驚きは人に対するこれだけの不公正が気付かれずに放置されてきたこと。 そして第４の驚きは、人はこの種の変動に自分ではほとんど気がつかないのだと言うこと。おそらく私達も知らずにその手の間違いを多く犯しているのだろう。
